How to Use Hair Oil in Your Routine

PURCPURE HAIR JOURNAL

Hair oil can be an optional part of a simple routine. Choose a product for the way you want to use it, then follow its directions. A pre-wash treatment and a finishing oil may need different amounts and application steps.

Read the label first

Check whether the oil is intended for the scalp, lengths or both, and whether it needs rinsing. Concentrated essential oils and ready-to-use cosmetic formulas are different products. Do not substitute one for the other or assume every oil is a leave-in treatment.

Start with the instructed amount

More product is not always helpful. Use the quantity on the label and spread it as directed. Fine hair can feel weighed down by too much oil; dense or textured hair may need a different application approach.

For a finishing step

If your product is designed for finishing, work the recommended amount through the areas that need it. Focus on the lengths or ends as directed and avoid adding repeated layers without checking how your hair feels.

For a pre-wash step

Follow the product’s application and timing instructions, then cleanse and rinse as directed. Take time to remove residue around the roots. Oil does not replace your regular cleansing or conditioning routine.

Keep expectations practical

Notice softness, appearance and manageability over several uses. A cosmetic oil does not guarantee faster growth or new hair. Stop using a product that feels uncomfortable and avoid contact with your eyes.
